DESCRIPTION & OPERATION OF THE DOSIMETER

1.1 Application of the dosimeter

The 1621M X-ray and gamma radiation

dosimeter is designed to provide:

• Continuous measurement of the personal dose equivalent

(hereinafter referred to as dose equivalent or DE) of external

gamma and X-ray (hereinafter photon) radiation H

(10);

• Continuous measurement of the time of the DE accumulation;

• Continuous measurement of the personal dose equivalent

rate of external photon radiation H

(10); (hereinafter dose

equivalent rate or DER);

• Communication of information accumulated and stored

in the device’s non-volatile memory through an infra-red

(IR) communication channel (the protocol is compatible with

IrDA interface) into a personal computer (PC) using an

internal or external IR adapter.
